Deleting files and/or account

2024-08-04 · EN

How to Delete Files or Your Files.fm Account

You can delete individual files and folders from your Files.fm account, or remove your files and then delete your account. This guide explains both options.

How to delete files from your account

  1. Sign in to Files.fm.

  2. Open My Files.

  3. Find the file or folder you want to remove.

  4. Open its options, select Delete, and follow the confirmation prompts.

  5. Repeat for any other files or folders you want to remove.

Before deleting anything, download copies of files you want to keep. Recovery options may depend on your account and how much time has passed.

How to delete files uploaded without signing in

If you entered your email address when uploading, Files.fm sends an email containing an edit and delete link. Open that email and use the link to manage or remove the upload.

If you uploaded files before signing in, you may be able to attach those uploads to your account by signing in on the same device. You can then manage them from My Files.

If you cannot find the link or delete the files yourself, use the Files.fm contact form and provide the upload link and relevant details.

How to delete your Files.fm account

Basic and PRO accounts can be deleted in account settings after the files in the account have been removed.

  1. Sign in to the account you want to delete.

  2. Download any files you want to keep.

  3. Open My Files and remove the files in your account.

  4. If you have a paid subscription, review it in My Subscriptions and cancel it if you no longer want it. Check that the cancellation is confirmed.

  5. Open your account settings.

  6. Select Delete account and follow the instructions to confirm deletion.

If you have a Business account or an account managed by an organization, contact your organization’s administrator or use the contact form for help.

How to delete your account if you sign in with Google or Facebook

If account deletion asks for a Files.fm password and you normally sign in using Google, Facebook or another connected account, you can set a password first:

  1. Open the password reset page.

  2. Enter the email address registered with your Files.fm account.

  3. Follow the instructions in the password reset email to create a password.

  4. Sign in and follow the account deletion steps above.

If you do not receive the reset email, check your spam folder and confirm that you entered the email address associated with your Files.fm account. If you still need help, contact Files.fm through the contact form.
